PDA consultants regularly attend conferences and continuing education seminars to stay current on emerging trends and issues within the healthcare industry. PDA also attends all meetings that shape the North Carolina State Medical Facilities Plan.  Staying current on issues surrounding the North Carolina State Medical Facilities Plan is essential for healthcare providers doing business in North Carolina.  PDA will be glad to discuss the details of any of the committee meetings and activities utilized to develop the North Carolina State Medical Facilities Plans.

2012 State Medical Facilities Plan (SMFP)

Preparation of the 2012 SMFP is complete.

2013 State Medical Facilities Plan (SMFP)

Preparation of the 2013 SMFP is underway. Meetings are scheduled and deadlines are set.

PDA has successfully guided providers of healthcare through preparing and presenting petitions, and would be pleased to assist you.

 

2013 State Health Coordinating Council Meeting Schedule

Full State Health Coordinating Council

Scheduled meeting dates for 2012 are:

The meetings will be held on Dorothea Dix Campus at the Brown Building, Conference Room 104 in Raleigh beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The Council will conduct a public hearing on statewide issues related to the development of the North Carolina Proposed 2013 State Medical Facilities Plan immediately following the business meeting on March 7, 2012.

Acute Care Services Committee

The meetings of the Acute Care Services Committee will be held on Dorothea Dix Campus in room 104 of the Brown Building in Raleigh.

Long Term and Behavioral Health Committee

All meetings of the Long Term and Behavioral Health Committee will be held on Dorothea Dix Campus in room 104 of the Brown Building in Raleigh.

During the April 13th meeting, the Council will consider Petitions seeking changes to the North Carolina Proposed 2013 State Medical Facilities Plan.

Technology and Equipment Committee

All meetings of the Technology and Equipment Committee will be held on Dorothea Dix Campus in room 104 of the Brown Building in Raleigh beginning at 10:00 a.m.

All public hearings commence at 1:30 p.m. All written comments and petitions on the Proposed 2013 SMFP must be received in the Medical Facilities Planning Section office by 5 p.m., on Monday, August 1, 2012.

 

North Carolina House Select Committee on Certificate of Need

The North Carolina House Select Committee on Certificate of Need is charged with studying law and process for issuing a Certificate of Need for new construction, expansion, or renovation of health care facilities and related issues involving hospitals. South Carolina CON Related Events

South Carolina Health Plan

Certificate of Need Review Panel

In November 2011, the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) Board established a CON review panel with the purpose of improving our agency’s internal process with user/provider input.  This includes the following goals:

  • Streamline the CON process, making it less onerous.
  • Standardize the weighting of criteria within the CON regulation.
  • Examine the current statute as it relates to the changing needs within the community/population/circumstance.
  • Evaluate instances in which CON should and should not be required.

In January 2012, the Board chose 23 people (pdf) to sit on CON review panel.
